Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors looked virtually unbeatable early on in the season. But that sheen of invincibility has seemed to wear off as they've gone through a serious rough patch as of late with Klay Thompson back in the lineup.

After the Warriors‘ worst loss of the season against the severely shorthanded Indiana Pacers on Thursday night, Steph Curry spoke out on the harsh reality of the NBA and what it takes to win in the best league in the world.

Via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle:

“We’ve shown what we can do at the beginning of the season, and we have to hold onto that,” asserted the Warriors star. We made it look easy, but it’s really hard to win games in this league. It’s really hard to do what we’re trying to do.”

The Warriors have more losses in the last 12 games, in which they've gone 5-7, than they had in the first 33 games to start the season when they started 27-6.

Their 33rd game was a resounding win over the Phoenix Suns on Christmas Day that gave them sole possession of the best record in the NBA at the time. But it has been an absolute grind for Stephen Curry and the Warriors ever since.

Curry himself has struggled of late, at least by his standards. He's shooting the worst percentages of his career this season and has dipped below 40% from 3, a baseline he has never breached in any full season of his career.

The struggles go beyond Stephen Curry. Draymond Green has missed seven of their last eight games, with his lone appearance being a ceremonial one just to start for Klay Thompson's debut. Working in Thompson has also forced some adjustments from the whole team, particularly with the demotion of Jordan Poole in the Golden State pecking order.

But if there's any consolation to the recent string of losses, it's that the Warriors are getting things out of their system in the middle of the regular season. It also serves as a stern reminder that they're far from unbeatable as they gun for a deep run at the title this season.
