Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has a very accomplished basketball résumé, but one thing he doesn't have is an Olympic gold medal. Curry opted against participating in the Tokyo Olympics, where Team USA just won gold, and he wasn't selected in 2012 and didn't play in 2016 because of injuries.

Curry will be 36 years old when the 2024 Paris Olympics roll around, but he will almost certainly have the opportunity to play if he wants to do it. Warriors head coach and Team USA assistant Steve Kerr said as much over the weekend.

Via Marc Stein's Substack:

“He's the best shooter who ever lived,” Warriors coach Steve Kerr said of Curry when I reached him Saturday, hours after the Americans had turned back France in the gold-medal game, 87-82, to send a relieved Popovich off in red, white and blue glory at last and halt a two-game losing streak to Evan Fournier, Rudy Gobert and Co.

“Steph can absolutely play on the Olympic team three years from now,” Kerr said.

Stephen Curry just had one of the best seasons of his career, so there's little reason to think he'll fall off that much by 2024. He keeps himself in incredible shape and should be able to play at a high level deep into his 30s. He'll obviously lose some of his effectiveness by that time, but his shooting isn't going anywhere.

So, as long as Curry isn't hurt or there's some other legitimate reason to skip, he should suit up for Team USA in 2024. He has USA Basketball experience in 2010 and 2014 during the FIBA World Championship competition, and now it's time to get that elusive Olympic gold medal.
