Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Stephen Curry will avoid a suspension for stepping onto the court during the team's preseason finale against the Los Angeles Lakers, according to Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports.

DeMarcus Cousins will also avoid penalty for joining Curry on the court.

Lakers guard Lance Stephenson and Warriors guard Quinn Cook got into a minor tussle, and Curry stepped onto the court. Usually, a player who is not currently in the game is assessed a one-game suspension for leaving the bench, but the NBA did not view the incident between Stephenson and Quinn as an altercation, per Haynes' report.

Curry and the Warriors take on the Oklahoma City Thunder in the season opener on Oct. 16 at home. The two-time league MVP and the rest of his Golden State teammates will receive their championship rings on that night. The Warriors defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2018 NBA Finals in four games.

Last season, Curry averaged 26.4 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.1 assists per game. The sharpshooter shot 49.5 percent from the field, 42.3 percent from beyond the arc and 92.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Curry and the Warriors are the heavy favorite to win the title again this season. If that occurs, it will be Golden State's fourth ring in five years.
