James Wiseman is going to have expectations placed on him for his entire career due to where the Golden State Warriors took him in the 2020 NBA Draft. While Wiseman continues to try and get acclimated to the Warriors, Stephen Curry wants him to ignore the buzz surrounding the other rookies, via The Athletic's Anthony Slater.

With the second-overall pick in the 2020 NBA Draft, the Warriors took Wiseman in hopes he could fill their glaring need at center. Wiseman has seen a limited role to begin the season as Golden State gets him accustomed to being a two-way player in the frontcourt.

While Wiseman has shown inconsistency in his rookie season, guys like Anthony Edwards and LaMelo Ball have been balling out for their respective teams. Even though the Warriors didn't have an opportunity to take Edwards, they could have chosen Ball instead of Wiseman.

But for various reasons, Golden State elected to choose Wiseman over Ball, who could have given them a much-needed scorer alongside Curry. Given how the draft panned out, the careers of Wiseman and Ball will be compared until they are done playing in the league.

Through his first 25 games in the NBA, Wiseman has recorded 11.8 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game for the Warriors. He's also shooting an impressive 40 percent from beyond the arc, showing off his ability to space the floor as a center. It's still so early to say whether Wiseman will eventually turn into the star the Warriors hoped he'll become when they drafted him, but they also know that not all players blossom right in their very first season in the NBA.

Even though he isn't putting up the numbers as rookies like Edwards and Ball, Curry wants Wiseman to know that Golden State is confident in his potential moving forward.
