The Golden State Warriors dropped a close one at home on Thursday night against the Memphis Grizzlies, 104-101. Stephen Curry's big game wasn't enough to propel them to their fifth straight win, suffering their first loss of the season.

But in the grand scheme of things, the loss would feel minuscule compared to the struggles of others. That's why former Warriors big man Zaza Pachulia, who now works as a team consultant, helped out the family of a volunteer crossing guard who was recently killed after getting hit by a car.

According to ESPN, Ashley Dias was working at the Stanley Middle School where Pachulia's two sons attend. He was helping three children out of harm's way when the tragic accident happened. The story hit home for Pachulia, so he hosted Dias' family at Chase Center during the Warriors' game against the Grizzlies.

“It's such a tragic loss. The last two years we've been losing so many people because of this pandemic, then you hear this guy, Ashley Dias, was a crossguard and literally volunteering and helping thousands of kids. I couldn't thank him for taking care of our kids so how about we invite them to the game. Seeing their spirits lifted up feels so good.”

Pachulia was known to be a rough player during his NBA career, even being voted by peers as one of the dirtiest players. Of course, San Antonio Spurs fans will forever hate him after allegedly injuring Kawhi Leonard in the 2017 NBA Playoffs. But his latest gesture would surely soften other people's view of him.

Losing a game will always be sad for Warriors fans. But nothing compares to losing a loved one, and fortunately, there are kind hearts like Pachulia who reach out during difficult times.
