The Western Conference finals matchup between the Golden State Warriors and the Houston Rockets will feature a ton of star power. The Warriors have Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green, and of course Kevin Durant. The Rockets, on the other hand, have the likes of Clint Capela, Eric Gordon, Chris Paul, and James Harden.

Former Warriors forward Stephen Jackson, however, says that center JaVale McGee should not be overlooked. In fact, he goes well beyond campaigning the idea that McGee is going to be a factor – he says that the Warriors big man is capable of doing more than Utah Jazz center Rudy Gobert.

Watch and listen to Jackson show JaVale McGee some love in an appearance on First Things First: Cris Carter and Nick Wright.

“Let me tell you. McGee is going to make a difference in this series. He does way more than Gobert on offense and defense. He’s going away from that [dunks] lately. This year, he’s normally on Shaqtin’ a Fool. He hasn’t been on that all year long.”

It’s a hot take from Jackson, considering that McGee barely matters to the Warriors in these playoffs. McGee is averaging just 6.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game in the postseason, though those are efficient numbers considering he’s playing in just 12.5 minutes per contest. Still, no one would pick McGee over Rudy Gobert, who may be a lot less athletic than McGee but had a greater overall impact on the Jazz this season than McGee has on the Warriors.

McGee, however, could get a bigger role against the speedy Rockets, and could be particularly used to neutralize Capela.
