Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is finding a new way to pass the time while the league self-quarantines and isolates to prevent the potential spread of coronavirus.

The NBA suspended league operations effective March 12 following positive COVID-19 (coronavirus) tests for Utah Jazz All-Star center Rudy Gobert, making the professional North American league in hiatus until a later date. More reveals of positive tests from several players continues to cast doubt on when the 2019-20 campaign can resume operations.

Kerr, however, is using his time off wisely and has turned to watching film on draft prospects instead.

“It's hard, honestly, just not turning a game on,” the Warriors coach told reporters on Tuesday, via ESPN's Nick Friedell.

The Warriors — as it stands — have the worst record in the NBA, but they are also tied for the best odds to land the top pick in the 2020 NBA Draft (should the draft actually be held in person on the scheduled date in late-June).

If the regular season ends today, or back on March 12, the Warriors would only have a 14.0 percent chance to nab the first overall pick. Golden State, however, could not fall before the No. 5 pick.

Steve Kerr and the Warriors are no doubt evaluating who to take as a top-five pick. They could go with ousted Memphis Tigers center James Wiseman, youngest Ball sibling guard LaMelo Ball, who played overseas in the NBL, or possibly Georgia Bulldogs wing Anthony Edwards, among other prospects.

This is a fairly unfamiliar situation, beyond the coronavirus outbreak and scare, for the Warriors and their three-time champion coach.
