The Golden State Warriors' roster has been in flux over the past eight months, seeing Kevin Durant part, D'Angelo Russell arrive and leave, and now Andrew Wiggins being added to the fold. With that, there will understandably be an adjustment period for Wiggins, who will have to get used to the team's unique style, which head coach Steve Kerr indicated Tuesday he believes will take the remainder of the 2019-20 season:

“I was thinking this morning about when Kevin Durant arrived and how long it took him to acclimate to our style of play,” Kerr said. “It was probably three months.”

Despite Golden State initially wanting to see how Russell would pair up alongside Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, the team has now pivoted to seeing how Wiggins will fare with the duo (in addition to the first-round pick that the team nabbed from Minnesota). After having signed a max contract with the Timberwolves, the Warriors will have Wiggins at their disposal through at least the 2022-23 season.

While the Durant comparison is a lofty one, Wiggins has proven himself to be an adept scorer in the league, having averaged 22.4 points per contest this year. His first two games with the Warriors have seen him shoot 14-for-26 from the floor overall, and that comes without the spacing that will likely be provided by Curry and Thompson upon their return.

Curry has been insistent upon returning this season, while Thompson (ACL surgery rehab) is likely targeting a 2020-21 return date. The current Warriors installment may be on the outside looking in of the playoff picture, but the groundwork laid in the next two months could pay significant dividends when the group is back together in October. Golden State will be gunning for another championship next season, so the hope is Wiggins' potential will finally be realized.
