Comparisons between LeBron James and Michael Jordan have raged on for quite some time now, and that trend will likely continue into the future. By most accounts, these are two of the greatest players to have graced a hardwood floor. One man who knows these two legends both on and off the court is Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr.

In a recent interview with ESPN's Chris Haynes, coach Kerr noted that James and Jordan should be considered as two of the greatest players in NBA history. In his discussion, Kerr — a former teammate of Jordan's — points out the similarities and differences in the two legends.

“The reason I have Michael and LeBron on there, first of all, I think they're the two best players of all time,” coach Kerr said in his interview with ESPN. “And I think LeBron, like Michael, has been such a force socially. Michael was more a force in terms of paving the way for athletes and basketball players in general to become spokesmen and spokeswomen for products, and LeBron has also gone down that path, but he's also been a force for social change.

“He's been very outspoken at a time when more and more athletes and coaches are doing so. I think LeBron has set a tone. He's been a game-changer for a lot of reasons. He's a phenomenal player, but I put him in there more for what he has meant to social activism and athletes and for the willingness to speak out.”

Coach Kerr is right on the money with regards to James' social activism. And in fact, Kerr is an outspoken activist himself. Although they're adversaries on the court, James and Kerr seem to share similar beliefs.
