In what's easily the best game in both conference finals, the Houston Rockets edged out the Golden State Warriors on the road, 95-92. After the game, Steve Kerr was the target of many criticisms for the Warriors not calling a timeout at any point in the final possession.

With seconds left on the clock, Kevin Durant raced to the Warriors' end of the court for the potential game-tying or winning offensive attack. At this point, many had thought that a timeout should've been called. However, Kerr, speaking to reporters after the game, explains why he let his superstar bring the ball down and initiate the charge.

“I thought we would get a better shot in transition. That's why I let them play.”

Unfortunately for Golden State, the Rockets were able to force Durant to give up the ball and Klay Thompson found himself in the corner trying his best to maneuver a shot over a phalanx of Houston defenders. This particular segment of the controversial possession caught the most heat. Thompson, being flanked by the Rockets defense and virtually trapped, could have called for a timeout — same for anyone among the Warriors.

Kerr, though, reveals that Draymond Green was actually pleading the referees for such, per Ben Golliver of Sports Illustrated.

“I wanted the timeout. Draymond was trying to call one around four seconds… At that point, the officials weren't looking… I was hoping they'd give it to us.”

This finally sheds light on everything. However, the outcome can't be reversed and the Rockets have grabbed homecourt advantage back. The series now shifts to Houston for Game 5 on Thursday.
