Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry is one of the most influential players of all time. The way the NBA game is played today has changed simply because of Curry’s style. Now everyone is looking for the next version of the two-time MVP.

When people think of players who are similar to Curry, a name that often comes up is Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young. However, Warriors coach Steve Kerr feels differently about that opinion.

“I don't see the similarity actually,” Kerr told reporters on Sunday. “I know people want to make it maybe because of the deep shooting range, but I see more Luka (Doncic) with Trae, just in a smaller package…They have a very similar game. It's going to be 50 High screens and roles, it's the ability to shoot a step-back three, shoot a floater, get to the rim, and pick you apart defensively.”

The comparison of Trae Young and Luka Doncic started before they played a single NBA game. Doncic was drafted third by the Atlanta Hawks in the 2018 draft, and Young was selected fifth by the Dallas Mavericks. The two then swapped spots when they were traded moments later. The question of who won in that draft will last their entire career.

“Those guys remind me of each other more than Steph and Trae,” the Warriors coach added. “I don't think anybody can compare to Steph in terms of what he does for us. Nobody moves off the ball like Steph Curry does. Nobody shoots it off the dribble like he does. So I think Trae and Steph are very different.”

Stephen Curry has the record for most three-pointers, won three NBA titles, and is still dominating the league. The one certain thing is he is one of one.
