Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr had some choice words for Sacramento Kings head coach Dave Joerger ahead of their matchup on Friday night.

“Dave sucks. I can’t stand that guy. Tell him I said that,” Steve Kerr told  Mark Medina of The Mercury News.

Okay, so Steve Kerr was obviously kidding.

But can we talk about the job Dave Joerger is doing in Sacramento for a second? Expected by pretty much everyone on the planet to be a lottery team this season, the Kings are currently in the playoff race, sitting a half-game in front of the Portland Trail Blazers for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Western Conference.

Now, Sacramento obviously has some young talent in the form of De'Aaron Fox, Marvin Bagley III, Buddy Hield and Willie Cauley-Stein, but no one anticipated this type of production this soon.

While their schedule has been relatively soft overall, the Kings have even put together some impressive wins over the last month, including victories over the Oklahoma City Thunder, Utah Jazz and Indiana Pacers.

Hield currently leads the team in scoring at 18.6 points per game, with second-year guard Fox right behind him at 17.9.

Joerger is in his third year with the Kings after spending three seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies, all three of which ended in playoff appearances. His high point was in 2014-15, when he led the Grizzlies to a 55-win campaign.

This will mark the second meeting between Golden State and Sacramento this season, with the Warriors earning a one-point victory at Oracle Arena back on Nov. 24.
