San Francisco, CA – The Golden State Warriors have brought in three lottery picks over the last two seasons. While they're excited about all of their young prospects, one of the three stands out in his potential ability to affect the game at both ends of the floor: Second-year center, James Wiseman.

At 20 years old, expectations are incredibly high for the No. 2 pick in the 2020 draft. Wiseman's new teammate Andre Iguodala recently discussed his excitement to play with the young talent. He believes Wiseman has no idea how good he could be, a sentiment shared by coach Steve Kerr. When asked if he thought Wiseman could help usher in a new era of big men to the NBA, Kerr agreed.

“Yeah, because of the skill level we saw last year,” Kerr told ClutchPoints of Wiseman. “He showed glimpses right away of being a player who can step out and shoot threes and get to the rim and handle the ball, and now it's a matter of putting all that stuff together, which takes time.”

Wiseman appeared in 39 games as a rookie, averaging 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds in 21.4 minutes while shooting 51.9 percent from the field. The NBA pace seemed a little too fast for him, but it started to look like he was beginning to catch up towards the end of the season, when Wiseman tore his meniscus. Just as he was finding some semblance of consistency, the injury ended his rookie season prematurely.

In the 2021-22 season, high expectations for Wiseman are back. Fans are hoping he can average 20 points and 10 rebounds right away, which more than likely won't be a reality. But with legendary coaches and players believing in him and offering their wisdom, you can expect to see progress in Wiseman's game. You can already notice he's bulked up some. Now we have to wait and see how that muscle will help him on the court.
