Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr told local reporters on Wednesday he's hopeful superstar small forward Kevin Durant will be able to play some 3-on-3 on Thursday.

Durant is still recovering from the right calf strain he suffered in the second round of the playoffs. Kerr says Durant got a workout in on Tuesday and another one on Wednesday, a good sign the Warriors star is making sound progress in his recovery.

Game 3 of the NBA Finals is on Wednesday. The Warriors will look to take a 2-1 lead in the best of seven series. The Dubs have to win both Games 3 and 4 to keep home-court advantage.

Durant was averaging 34.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and 4.9 assists in the 2019 playoffs before he got hurt in Game 5 of the second round versus the Houston Rockets. The two-time Finals MVP was shooting 51.3 percent from the field, 41.6 percent from beyond the arc and 90.1 percent from the free-throw line.

The Warriors are pretty banged up right now. Durant is out, Klay Thompson is dealing with a left hamstring injury and Kevon Looney has been ruled out for the rest of the Finals.

Golden State is eager to get Durant back in the fold, but they won't rush him under any circumstances.
