Kevon Looney has been out for the Golden State Warriors this preseason as he recovers from a hamstring injury. However, head coach Steve Kerr is not ruling out the possibility of the big man returning in time for the start of the regular season.

Looney practiced with the Dubs on Tuesday, and according to Kerr, the “hope” is for the 23-year-old to be ready in time for their season opener against the Los Angeles Clippers on Oct. 24.

Kevon Looney was forced to miss Golden State's first three preseason after tweaking his hamstring earlier in training camp. The Warriors initially sidelined him as a precautionary measure in order to not aggravate the injury.

The Milwaukee native is expected to play a crucial role for the Warriors in the upcoming 2019-20 campaign, especially after the departure of Kevin Durant and the injury to Klay Thompson. During media day, head coach Steve Kerr even cited that Looney might play around 30 minutes per game this season.

Looney was set to be the Warriors'starting center, but the team will likely ease him back to the rotation after missing a significant amount of time. He averaged 6.3 points, 5.2 rebounds and and 1.5 assists in 18.5 minutes per game in 2018-19, all while shooting 62.5 percent from the field.
