With momentum building that Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant will leave the team via free agency this summer, Durant has remained completely silent, choosing to avoid the media completely of late.

While many have criticized Durant's decision to remain tight-lipped, Warriors head coach Steve Kerr defended his player, saying that he simply does not want to talk:

“He just doesn't feel like talking right now,” said Kerr, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “We're functioning as a team, we're doing our thing, we're playing, he's coming in and competing and working at practice. It's just…give him some space.”

Kerr added that Durant has “always been accountable” and has been “unbelievable with the media” since arriving in the Bay Area during the summer of 2017.

Many feel that Durant will bolt the Warriors for the New York Knicks this offseason.

Durant is in his third year in Golden State and is aiming to win his third straight championship.

The 30-year-old won Finals MVPs in each of the last two NBA Finals, both coming against LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Of course, Durant spent the first nine years of his career with the Oklahoma City Thunder organization, making one NBA Finals appearance in 2012.

After losing to the Warriors in the Western Conference Finals in a classic seven-game series in 2017, Durant decided to leave Russell Westbrook and the Thunder for the same Golden State team that beat them months prior, drawing heavy criticism from fans and the media.

At this point, Durant will likely be chastised for any choice he makes.
