One of the many sweeping changes that the NBA could be looking to bring about to its regular season at some point over the next few seasons is the idea of a mid-season tournament. Just what would be at stake in said tournament remains up in the air, but Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr is one of the many coaches around the league that is intrigued by what he has heard up to this point.

While Kerr did cite his need for more information, having the opinion of one of the league's more widely-respected coaches bodes well for the possibility of seeing something of the sort introduced at some point.

One idea that has been heavily speculated is that the team that wins the tournament will be bestowed an additional draft pick in an upcoming Draft.

For nearly half a decade, Kerr was at the helm of a dominant Warriors franchise nearly unlike any other that the league has seen. The greatness of the Kevin Durant/Stephen Curry/Klay Thompson/Draymond Green teams masked any serious flaws that they had across an 82-game slate, allowing the team to chalk up wins while prioritizing the postseason.

This season, Kerr is drastically on the other side of the coin. He enters play Wednesday with the worst mark in the league at 4-18. So while getting his new team developed is certainly on his mind, so is the idea that the league could tinker with a mid-season tournament.
