Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has big plans for big man Kevon Looney. Next season, Dubs fans may see Looney play more minutes and knockdown corner 3-pointers.

Speaking on The Warriors Insider Podcast, Kerr revealed he and Looney talked about expanding his game and making him play more minutes. Kerr also noted that it's time for Looney to shoot those short corner 3-pointers that he's been shooting in practice.

“I saw him [Kevon Looney] a couple weeks ago at the facility,” Kerr recalled. “We talked a lot about him expanding his game. I would like to play him more minutes. You know, traditionally, he's been kind of a 25-minute a night guy. I'd love to get that over 30.”

“I want him to shoot corner 3s,” Kerr urged. “He's got a really nice touch and he shoots them in practice, but I think next year is the time to extend that range out to the corner 3, and we're going to give him every opportunity to expand his game. So, I'm thrilled that Kevon is back. He's a huge part of what we do, and I think a bigger part going forward given his development.”

Looney was the 30th overall pick by the Warriors in 2015. Slowly and surely, the 23-year-old worked his way into the rotation of a Dubs squad full of future Hall-of-Famers.

Looney was initially seen as a mere reserve — tasked to hold the fort down up until the stars return — but he made his way and established himself as a key presence in Golden State. Now, he will get a chance to show everyone what he can do given a bigger responsibility.
