Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has chimed in on the whole controversy surrounding Houston Rockets general manager Daryl Morey and the Chinese government. For his part, the three-time NBA champion coach didn't comment much on the “bizarre” issue:

For those who might be hearing about this controversy for the first time, the Chinese government was recetly incensed by Morey's comments pertaining to China's ongoing political feud against Hong Kong. In a now-deleted tweet, Morey announced his support for Hong Kong, which obviously struck a chord with the Chinese. China has taken multiple steps to sever ties not only with the Rockets but the NBA as a whole, though Adam Silver is sticking up for Morey's right to free speech.

Kerr went on to explain why he opted not to comment on the issue, honestly stating that he does not have enough knowledge on the matter to be able to provide a substantial statement:

China is not taking this matter lightly at all, and they seem committed to escalating this further. China canceled an NBA Cares event scheduled to involve the Brooklyn Nets, who are set to take on the Los Angeles Lakers in China this week. China's state broadcaster also announced it wouldn't be showing the upcoming preseason games between the Nets and Lakers, and they'll be investigating its relationship with the NBA.
