The Golden State Warriors are currently in the midst of a dog fight for a spot in the playoffs in the Western Conference. On Thursday, Dubs star Draymond Green sounded off on the idea that he is motivated by the prospect of taking part in a play-in game in order to make the postseason cut — something head coach Steve Kerr has now addressed.
Kerr, trying to get the Warriors back to the playoffs. completely understands where Green is coming from with his comments:
Kerr said he understood where Draymond was coming from in regard to his comments about the play-in game given that the Warriors have had so much success in the past — but acknowledged that this is "our reality" and that he is motivated by the idea of the play-in game.

To be clear, Green said that he wasn't motivated by the play-in game. For him, winning every game is of utmost importance for the Warriors simply because he hates losing — and this is what motivates him to play every game as if it were his last.
Kerr went on to acknowledge that at this point, making the playoffs will be a key milestone for the Warriors this season:
“I think everything matters organizationally going forward,” Kerr said about the Warriors, via Nick Friedell of ESPN. “And I think getting into the playoffs would be a big accomplishment and a stepping stone towards next year, regardless of what happens when we get there. I think this is something that should drive us.”
The Dubs are no longer the same team from a few years back when they had their celebrated dynasty run. It is clear from coach Kerr's tone that they have accepted the reality that a championship is not something that they can attain this season. Kerr and the entire Warriors organization know their limits, and instead, have set their sights on the years to come.
