Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr admits the team needs some more veteran players on the roster.

Once the 2020 free agency period starts, Kerr is hopeful the Dubs can sign some veteran guys, similar to how Golden State added Zaza Pachulia and David West in the past.

“We’d like to add a veteran or two in free agency, but I don’t even know if that’s possible,” Kerr told Anthony Slater of The Athletic when asked about the Warriors' youth-laden roster in the 2019-20 season.

“We’ll see how everything shakes out. So it’s almost, you know, if we can’t do that, if we can’t add a Zaza Pachulia or David West in free agency, we’ve gotta be able to do that on the staff. So I think that’s a big part of why Shaun and LB are here, to provide some of that mentoring.”

The Warriors will certainly be back in the playoffs next season. After all, two-time MVP Stephen Curry and All-Star shooting guard Klay Thompson will return to tearing up defenses together for Steve Kerr.

Curry played in only five games in 2019-20 due to a broken hand which required two procedures, while Thompson didn't play at all. Klay was recovering from the ACL tear he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors.

However, it's always good to have veteran guys on the team who can provide leadership to the Warriors' youngsters and come in and play their game on any given night.

With that being said, let's see if Golden State president of basketball operations Bob Myers can get Kerr what he wants.
