Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has officially ruled out center DeMarcus Cousins for Wednesday's game against Cousins' old team, the New Orleans Pelicans.

However, DeMarcus Cousins is still on track to make his season debut on Friday versus the Los Angeles Clippers at Staples Center.

DeMarcus Cousins is almost ready to make his much-anticipated debut with the Warriors. Boogie tore his Achilles tendon last season with the Pelicans, but his recovery process is nearing its end.

Before he got hurt last year in New Orleans, DeMarcus Cousins was putting up monster numbers, averaging 25.2 points and 12.9 rebounds in 48 games while shooting 47.0 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from beyond the arc. He's not going to put those numbers up with Golden State, but Cousins is a huge upgrade over Kevin Looney.

Once Cousins enters the starting lineup, the Warriors will throw out five All-Stars in their starting unit. It's a sight no one in the NBA wants to see, but one that Golden State fans have been waiting forever since July.

The Warriors entered Tuesday with a record of 29-14, good for second place in the Western Conference standings. Assuming everything goes to plan, DeMarcus Cousins and Golden State will win the 2019 NBA championship, setting Cousins up for a free agency period in the summer that will likely go better than last year's.

Cousins is going to be rusty during the first week or so of his return. Kerr says there will be a minutes restriction, which makes sense considering the injury Boogie suffered.
