The Golden State Warriors are very thin at the center position right now. DeMarcus Cousins is still making his way back from the torn Achilles, Damian Jones is out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle, and Jordan Bell has been a massive disappointment. That basically leaves Kevon Looney and Draymond Green as the two viable options in the middle.

Warriors head coach Steve Kerr says that he is going to have no choice but to give Green more minutes at center, according to Mark Medina of The Mercury News:

“They’re all just big men,” said Kerr. “The best big men who we have is that who we’re going to play. That means Draymond is going to play more center this year than ever before,” Kerr said. “We don’t have the same depth as we had in the past at that position, which is ironic. We used to talk about it in the past on how many centers we had. One of these years we’ll get it exactly right.”

The good news for Kerr is that the Warriors have generally been at its best when Draymond Green plays center, as evidenced by the fact that the vaunted “Death Lineup” featured Green at the center position back in the 73-win campaign in 2015-16.

Of course, the Warriors' roster looks a bit different now than it did back then. Kevin Durant is now on board, and key players such as Andre Iguodala and Shaun Livingston are a couple of years older.

Plus, Draymond Green is just not the threat from the perimeter that he was back then, meaning, opposing big men don't really have to pay much attention to him from beyond the arc.

For the first time in what seems like centuries, Golden State actually has some issues this year.
