Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr has used the wise words of former Chicago Bulls teammate Dennis Rodman as guidance during his tenure with the Dubs.

Rodman once said, “I'll play the game for free, but you get paid for the bulls–t.” Both the 90s Bulls and Kerr's Warriors are dynasties that were in the spotlight for so many years.

As a result, a lot of “bulls–t” took place, and it certainly affected the players in a negative way. On a recent episode of the on the Runnin' Plays podcast, Kerr explained how Rodman inspired his Warriors.

“The main reason you get paid is not because you get to play basketball, it's because you get traded, and cut, and booed and injured,” the Warriors coach said, via NBC Sports. “And there's a lot of difficulty that comes with all the great stuff.”

Being in the NBA is great because players are paid millions to play the sport they love on the biggest stage. However, having every move be dissected by the media and fans can take a toll on players, as can being away from their families for long periods.

Kerr and the Warriors had the worst record in the NBA before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. This season was going to be the first time the Dubs were going to miss the postseason in the Steve Kerr era.

The former NBA sharpshooter joined the Warriors before the start of the 2014 season. Golden State has won three championships with Kerr. If the season resumes, it won't really matter for Golden State as they are headed for the lottery.
