In Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals, Golden State Warriors head coach says he's tempted to change his lineup against the Houston Rockets.
As reported by Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle, Kerr confessed:
“I am tempted to switch it up, but I'm not going to announce anything as usual. We'll see what I come up with. I don't think even I know.”
What Kerr is talking about is the infamous Hamptons Five lineup comprised of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, Andre Iguodala, Draymond Green, and Kevin Durant.
The small lineup has been tagged as one of the best lineups arranged. At face value, it is a small five, yet it provides a well-balanced attack on both the defensive and offensive end.
There's really no apparent reason why Kerr is bent on switching up the lineups. After all, they convincingly won Game 1. Maybe Kerr, the great coach that he is, saw something that can be tweaked. Or maybe he just wants to give the Rockets a brand new look every time.
Several weeks ago, Curry detailed what makes the Hamptons Five a death line up for opposing teams. As reported by David Aldridge of NBA.com:
“We all bring the best of each other,” Curry said of the Hamptons’ unit, according to NBA.com’s David Aldridge. “We increase the pace of the game, but the versatility (is) at the defensive end — Andre, Draymond, KD shoring up the paint, switching a lot of the screens and the action from the offense and Klay doing what he does on the perimeter. I think the biggest thing offensively is that we’re all playmakers, try to look for the best shot, stay within ourselves and just make the right play.”
