Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn't shy away from generational comparisons, grabbing one of his closest assets in Steve Nash and comparing him to his current point guard, Stephen Curry, as the team nears the end of training camp.

Kerr explained his reasoning for the comparison, noting the evolution of the point guard position through the years.

“The way I kind of look at it, I'm a little biased because I was in Phoenix. I think Steve Nash changed the way point guards saw the game,” said Kerr. “Before Nash, you had the more traditional point guards like John Stockton, who were just amazing, but more like point A to point B, execution wise.”

“Nash came in and he was like this freestyle guy who would see plays and create plays and then still shoot threes. And Steph… I've talked to Nash about this, since he's here a lot. Steph is like Nash on steroids. He's faster and quicker, and he's shooting from 35 feet instead of 25 feet. So I think Steph has followed in Nash's footsteps and really taken it to another level.”

Nash and Curry are peculiarly similar, being the only two point guards to win back-to-back Most Valuable Player awards since Magic Johnson (1988-90). Aside from the hardware, Nash and Curry are on a club of their own, being the only two players in history to take part in the 50-45-90 club, an exclusive deadeye marksman club that honors those that excel percentage-wise from the field, beyond the arc, and from the charity stripe.
