Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr pulled few punches when discussing the current state of foul calls in the league while talking with the media ahead of Tuesday's contest versus the San Antonio Spurs.

“I would like to see a slight reversal in what we're trying to accomplish as a league,” Kerr said, per Logan Murdock of NBC Sports Bay Area. “I think we've gone overboard in rewarding offensive players. And what I mean by that is we've rewarded offensive players for fooling the officials and attempting to fool the officials.”

Speaking specifically, the Warriors coach seems to direct much of his ire at fouls that are called to give an undue advantage to the offensive player, citing “players need to earn fouls, and earn it by beating their man and drawing contact in a natural way and not flopping and flailing and grabbing arms and that's going on all over the league.”

As those who frequent NBA League Pass on a nightly basis can attest, there certainly appears to be an uptick in foul calls that have benefited the offense through the first two-plus months of the 2019-20 season.

One play in particular that Steve Kerr appears unhappy with is that of when the offensive player brings his shooting motion up and through a defender, thereby drawing a foul merely in an attempt to shoot free throws. The league adjusted its rules concerning that move as a presumptive measure to no longer automatically send the shooter to the line, but in Kerr's mind, there can unquestionably be more adjustments made.
