Although Stephen Curry is coming off a historic season for the Golden State Warriors where he won the NBA scoring title, the championship window for this franchise doesn’t have a lot of time left. Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Steph are all aging. Eventually, a new generation will have to take over.

Warriors coach Steve Kerr recently spoke on this exact matter and how James Wiseman is going to be a crucial piece of their title aspirations over the next few seasons, via NBC Sports Bay Area:

“The thing that everybody is going to talk about is Steph’s timeline. And I understand that. It’s a legitimate concern,” Kerr said this week on The TK Show podcast with The Athletic’s Tim Kawakami. “What I would say is — I think James is gonna help us win games next year.

“And it’s OK if he’s not playing 30 minutes because we can win games with [Kevon] Looney on the floor [and] we can win games with Draymond playing five.

With Klay Thompson returning next season for the Warriors as well, they will have lofty goals set in place as they look to get back into the heart of the playoff race after narrowly missing out last month.

The center position is obviously very important and Wiseman has shown potential. While there was initially some talk about possibly trading the former Memphis standout, it’s clear the Warriors have him in their plans for the future.

Golden State will definitely be looking to upgrade the roster this summer, but Wiseman will play a key part in helping Stephen Curry and co. find success on the big stage again.
