Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr spoke to reporters in Washington about trade rumors and how D’Angelo Russell is handling the trade speculation surrounding him.

Russell has been linked to the Minnesota Timberwolves and New York Knicks in recent days. The Warriors, who already made one in-season trade by moving Willie Cauley-Stein to the Dallas Mavericks, don't have a history of making trades during the season.

In 32 games for the Warriors this season, Russell is averaging 23.8 points, 3.7 rebounds and 6.3 assists. The lefty is shooting 43.3 percent from the field, 38.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line.

Russell signed a four-year deal with the Warriors this past offseason as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Brooklyn Nets involving Kevin Durant.

The Warriors, at 11-39 on the season, have the worst record in the NBA.

Golden State will miss the playoffs this season for the first time in the Steve Kerr era. The 54-year-old tactician joined the Warriors in the summer of 2014, replacing Mark Jackson, and led the Dubs to five NBA Finals and three championships since then.

It would be fun to see what D'Angelo Russell would look like with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson next season, but if the Warriors find a deal involving Russell which helps them get under the tax line, they might do it pretty quickly.
