With the Golden State Warriors currently in a state of calamity in terms of all the injuries they are dealing with, head coach Steve Kerr is looking to get a bit creative.

According to Kerr, he's serious about signing 38-year-old former NBA point guard Leandro Barbosa on a short-term deal:

“I'm dead serious that he could be very effective if we ever do that,” Kerr said about the possibility of signing Barbosa on a 10-day contract, via Connor Letourneau of the San Francisco Chronicle. “He's still in great shape.”

The Warriors named Barbosa as a mentor-coach in September of last year, so he has been around the team for quite some time now. Steve Kerr has been able to see what the 6-foot-3 guard brings to the table, and the three-time champion coach was able to make an assessment about Barbosa's current game fitness.

It is worth noting, however, that the last time we saw Barbosa in the NBA was during the 2016-17 season. He played his final year in the league with the Phoenix Suns before heading to his native of Brazil to play in the domestic professional league.

Coach Kerr is more than familiar with Barbosa's style of play. The former Sixth Man of the Year winner played two seasons for the Warriors and was a key part of the rotation throughout his tenure. Barbosa played his role in Golden State's memorable 2015 title run, and at this point, it looks like a return to the Dubs might just be forthcoming for him.
