The Golden State Warriors will soon have the original big three of Stephen Curry, Draymond Green, and Klay Thompson back. Thompson has not played since 2019 but he is expected to be back at some point this year.

Having these players in their prime means to contend at the highest level as we have seen what they are capable of doing. Curry and Thompson wreaked some havoc in the NBA in the last couple of years as the Warriors won three championships in the last decade.

However, the wear and tear of the exhausting journey to being in the NBA Finals almost every year got them as injuries riddled the Warriors in the last two seasons. Golden State have failed to qualify for the playoffs in the past two years.

These two failed seasons resulted in draft picks for the Warriors, they got James Wiseman last season and recently drafted Jonathan Kuminga and Moses Moody. It is surprising that the Dubs are not trading them for a more tested and proven player who can contribute now to help Curry and Co.

For head coach Steve Kerr, in an interview with Monte Poole of the Dubtalk podcast, he is in favor of bringing in youth since it is both a long-term and short-term solution for the Warriors, he believes they can win now with veterans and mentors guiding them.

“I think this year's team will offer a much better mix of mentors and veterans to go along with those young guys,” Kerr said to Monte Poole on the latest Dubs Talk podcast. “I think we'll have more continuity this coming season than we've had since our championship teams, and a much clearer sense of who's ready to play and who's not.”

It's real exciting to think of the structure of the team and the balance and what we can accomplish,” Kerr later said

Signing Otto Porter Jr., Andre Iguodala, and Nemanja Bjelica proved they are also in win-now mode as these veterans can contribute now. The Warriors are focused on winning now while also developing their young guys for the future.
