Golden State Warriors general manager Bob Myers says he got the Klay Thompson Achilles tear news with owner Joe Lacob and head coach Steve Kerr alongside him.

As expected, Lacob, Myers and Kerr were heartbroken.

Klay Thompson tore his right Achilles while playing in a pick-up game on Wednesday in Los Angeles. He's going to miss the entire 2020-21 season for the Warriors.

One of the best shooters in NBA history, Thompson missed the entire 2019-20 season with the Warriors. He was rehabbing from the torn left ACL he suffered in Game 6 of the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors, which was actually the last game ever played at Oracle Arena.

The Warriors, who had the worst record in the NBA in 2019-20, won't be title contenders now that Thompson is out. As great as Stephen Curry is, Thompson is so valuable to the Warriors on both ends of the floor. It's a shame what happened to him and the entire NBA world is praying for the sharpshooter.

Golden State drafted Memphis big man James Wiseman with the second overall pick in the 2020 draft. The Warriors were planning to insert him in the starting lineup alongside Curry, Thompson, Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins. The team will now have to find a replacement for Thompson in the starting five.

Multiple reports have stated the Warriors are acquiring Kelly Oubre Jr. from the Oklahoma City Thunder, so it looks like the Dubs are going to start Curry, Oubre Jr., Wiggins, Green and Wiseman in 2020-21.
