Imagine if the Golden State Warriors signed a player like Tyson Chandler who could help them right away as they wait for DeMarcus Cousins.

Well, it almost happened. According to Chandler himself, the Los Angeles Lakers and Warriors were the final two teams he considered signing with:

However, Chandler wanted to return home to Los Angeles, which is why he signed with the Lakers over the Warriors.

Chandler would have been a nice addition as the Warriors await the return of Cousins from his injury, but it's not like the defending champions need any more help.

Chandler has made an impact so far in LA. Since joining the Lakers, the team has gone 3-0. He blocked Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young shot at the buzzer as Young was going for the win.

Chandler may not be putting up a lot of points, but he is helping the Lakers with rebounding and rim protection, which is something the Warriors could use right now.

Chandler became available when he was bought out by the Phoenix Suns. There could be more early buyouts from teams who have veterans if they cannot find a trade, and the Warriors might look at the waiver wire to help with depth.

With the interest in Chandler, one has to wonder if Cousins will not be returning sooner than originally thought. Or, perhaps the Warriors saw Chandler as a need for help right now and would have used both players later in the season.

Either way, Tyson Chandler is a member of the Los Angeles Lakers, so the Warriors' didn't get richer this time around.
