When DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Golden State Warriors in the summer of 2018, head coach Steve Kerr made it pretty clear that it was likely only going to be a one-year deal since Cousins could play his way out of the Warriors' price range.
DeMarcus Cousins signed with the Warriors on a one-year deal worth $5.3 million because he didn't receive any offers in free agency. Boogie tore his Achilles tendon last season with the New Orleans Pelicans and it affected his free agent market.
Cousins has yet to play in a game this season, as he is still rehabbing his Achilles injury. While everyone believes the All-Star big man won't return to the Warriors in 2019, there's one insider who thinks it might actually be possible.

Allow me to also pass on one of the wildest predictions I’ve heard lately, from one wise insider, who thinks even DeMarcus Cousins will consider re-upping with the Warriors for one more season despite the (comparatively) minuscule raise they can offer on Cousins’ current $5.3 million salary.
Achilles injuries are believed to be the toughest ailment to come back from. No one knows how DeMarcus Cousins is going to look when he steps back onto the court this year.
Maybe Cousins and his camp will play it safe by re-signing with the Warriors for cheap again, have a dominant 2019-20 season after having a full healthy summer, and then enter the open market in the offseason of 2020 ready to cash in on a big contract.
It might not be such a bad idea.
