Once upon a time, it seemed as though the holy triumvirate of Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green would be lifers with the Golden State Warriors.

But the outlook of the franchise has changed considerably in recent years, and Green in particular might be headed elsewhere if the Dubs cannot right the ship this season.

Chris Haynes of Yahoo Sports said on the latest episode of the Posted Up podcast he believes the Warriors could trade Draymond should things go south:

“I'll say this. If Draymond comes back and they don't fare well, we could see a scenario where Draymond will be put out in the market for trade bait,” Haynes said, via Streamable. “We could see that, the way this franchise is going.

“And I know a team, oh my goodness, I know a team that would be salivating, if that was the case. I'm not going to mention it.”

Green has had his share of trials in the past few years, especially in the form of injuries.

The former Defensive Player of the Year played in just 43 games last season and has yet to take the floor this year due to a foot injury. He will be 31 in March, and the Warriors might choose to try and capitalize on his potential value now to gain more assets for the future.

Green is under contract through 2023 for just under $24 million per season, with a $27 million player option for the 2023-24 campaign. Teams not scared off by recent injury concerns could be willing to part with future value for Green, who at his best is a defensive game-changer and tremendous playmaker and secondary ball-handler.

There is no telling where the Warriors will be come March. But Haynes suggests Green could be a name to watch ahead of the deadline.
