Kevin Durant reportedly sought but never found a close bond with Stephen Curry on the Golden State Warriors, according to Marcus Thompson of The Athletic.

Durant and Curry were unstoppable on the court together with the Warriors, it just looks like their relationship wasn't that close off the court. Curry is married and has three kids, while Durant is single.

Neither Curry nor Durant responded to requests for comment. But what was probably unsaid, though, was what could have been. This moment illustrated one of the reasons, perhaps a significant one, Durant left — because Curry and Durant never really got to become Curry and Durant. It might have been the only thing that truly could have kept Durant in the Bay.

“He wanted that type of relationship,” said one source friendly with Durant. “It just didn’t work out like that.”

During the Kevin Durant era, the Warriors went to three straight NBA Finals, winning two. They lost the 2019 Finals against the Toronto Raptors. Durant only played in Game 5. That's when he tore his right Achilles tendon.

With the Brooklyn Nets, Durant will be with two of his closest friends in Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. Kyrie and Jordan will help KD get through his Achilles rehab.
