The Golden State Warriors are bent on reclaiming their seat alongside the league's elite teams. Yet, true to Joe Lacob's “light years” claim, the Dubs are looking for more pieces to bolster their stacked lineup.

Ben Simmons' name has been floating for quite some time as a potential trade acquisition for the Warriors. It presents a complicated situation from multiple angles, including his possible fit alongside Draymond Green.

It's a polarizing topic that has caused a divide within the organization, per ESPN's Zach Lowe and Stephen A. Smith.

“I think the Warriors internally are divided on the potential fit of Simmons with Draymond Green,” Lowe said Tuesday on the “Lowe Post” podcast. “Do you agree?”

“I've been told they are,” ESPN's Stephen A. Smith responded. “They are divided.”

Green and Simmons play similar styles. Both are excellent passers and defenders, but they're also inept in shooting from the perimeter. In spite of their All-Star reputations, teams notoriously leave Green and Simmons alone on the outside almost all the time.

The Warriors have managed to become successful with Green, though. He's no Stephen Curry but he may look like a Splash Brother when compared to Simmons. The former Michigan State standout has had his hot streaks from 3-point land, unlike Simmons who's simply allergic to long-distance shots.

The Sixers have been asking for the moon in trade talks involving Simmons. On the other side, the Warriors are loaded with young assets and a solid rotation piece in Andrew Wiggins who could also help in matching salaries.

Still, there are plenty of obstacles left to hurdle before a deal centered on Simmons comes to fruition.
