Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry suffered a dislocated finger on his non-shooting hand during the Warriors' win in Game 2 of their second-round Western Conference playoff series against the Houston Rockets on Tuesday night.
Curry is expected to play in Game 3 on Saturday evening, but he does not anticipate doing so without some pain:
“Feels alright,” said Curry, according to Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “It’s gonna hurt, but is what it is.”
Of course, the good news for Curry is that the injury did not occur to his right hand, so while it will almost certainly affect the two-time MVP in some way, it shouldn't alter his shot too much.
The 30-year-old struggled with his shot during Golden State's Game 2 victory, going just 6-of-16 from the floor and 3-of-13 from 3-point range en route to scoring a modest 20 points. He also added five assists, three rebounds and a pair of steals.
Curry has labored to shoot the ball in general during his current series, as he has gone just 11-of-28 from the field while making just six of his 23 long-distance tries through two games.
That being said, it's a very small sample size, and the Dubs have managed to jump out to a 2-0 lead in spite of Curry's lackluster performance, so that can't be good news for a Rockets team that is facing a must-win scenario in Game 3.
Golden State is battling Houston in the playoffs for the fourth time since 2015 and is looking to go 4-0 against James Harden and Co. in those series.
