The Golden State Warriors put up a sizzling second and third quarter against the injury-decimated San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday night, hitting 24 of 25 shots during a continued stretch that went from before halftime into the winding minutes of the third. Andre Iguodala was one of the defending champions clicking on all cylinders, nailing a 23-foot corner three with ease and turning around to look at his bench before the shot falls through in true Stephen Curry fashion.
That blazing stretch saw the Warriors shoot a blistering 96 percent from the field (yes, you read that right), as they quickly pushed a single-digit lead into 30-plus points of advantage against the visiting Spurs.
The Warriors would eventually miss some shots at the rim at the end of the third quarter, putting them out of contention for the most effective quarter in NBA history. Yet they fell one point shy from a 50-point quarter, netting 16 assists during that stretch.
Iguodala is only a 35.3 percent 3-point shooter for the season, but he might as well feel 6-foot-3 and light-skinned by the way he was shooting the ball in that quarter.
He finished with 11 points, six rebounds, and four assists in an efficient 19-minute outing.
