ESPN’s Jeff Van Gundy is one of the top color commentators in the league today. The former New York Knicks and Houston Rockets head coach not only delivers on his Xs and Os knowledge of the game but also on the lighter side of broadcasting.

Van Gundy and Ryan Ruocco were covering the recent game between the Philadelphia 76ers and the Minnesota Timberwolves when the discussion veered to Twitter during the fourth quarter. Ruocco asked Van Gundy whether he had a “fake spy account” on the social media platform.

Jeff Van Gundy knew exactly what Ruocco was referring to and was emphatic in his response.

Ryan Ruocco: Are you on Twitter Jeff?

Jeff Van Gundy: No

Ruocco: Not even a fake spy account just to keep tabs on people?

JVG: Like a Durant-type account?

Ruocco: Yeah, exactly.

JVG: No!

So there you have it. Straight from the horse’s mouth. Jeff Van Gundy is not on Twitter, and is definitely not defending himself from bashers via a burner account like Kevin Durant. So if you come across a seemingly overzealous account tweeting in defense of JVG, it’s probably just a big fan or maybe a family member.

With his track record of criticizing the league on issues he feels strongly about, as well as the way he dropped the Golden State Warriors superstar's name in the discussion with little hesitation, even as Ruocco tried to slyly bring up the topic without mentioning Durant by name, it’s pretty clear Jeff Van Gundy has no need for a burner account to tell anyone how he really feels.
