Kevin Durant has been on record saying that the incident between him and Draymond Green at Staples Center last season was one of the reasons he decided to leave the Golden State Warriors in free agency.

The prevailing thought around the league is that Durant didn't want to play with Green anymore since the former Defensive Player of the Year called him a “b***h” during that heated conversation at Staples Center during a game against the Los Angeles Clippers.

Green, never afraid to speak his mind, says if Durant “really” wanted to stay with the Warriors, all KD had to do was call president Bob Myers and tell him to trade Green:

Durant joined the Brooklyn Nets last offseason via sign-and-trade deal. The Warriors acquired D'Angelo Russell from the Nets but shipped him off to the Minnesota Timberwolves for Andrew Wiggins at the trade deadline.

What Green said to Durant during that game at Staples Center was wrong. The language and moment he decided to confront Durant about his upcoming free agency were not ideal.

However, you can understand why Green and other players on the Warriors were upset since they were going to war every night knowing that their best player was probably leaving at the end of the season. Green has been very outspoken about Durant's departure, and he hasn't held back in recent interviews when discussing the situation.

Durant has moved on from the Warriors, and the Dubs need to do the same. Golden State had the worst record in the entire NBA before the 2019-20 season was suspended due to COVID-19. The Warriors were on their way to missing the playoffs for the first time in the Steve Kerr era, which began in 2014-15.

However, Golden State should be back in contention next season when everybody is healthy.
