Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Golden State Warriors and Cleveland Cavaliers is underway and we already have a scary moment happening.

Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson has been brought to the locker room after the Cavs' J.R. Smith slid on the floor and onto Thompson's leg. The All-Star guard took a pass in hopes of a transition bucket, but Smith anticipated what Golden State wanted to do. Unfortunately, he was late to react and the result was a scary scene.

Thompson headed to the locker room on a limp and Smith, as expected, caught plenty of boos from the rabid Oracle Arena crowd.

The Warriors' PR Twitter account sent out an update on Thompson's injury:

Klay Thompson (left lateral leg contusion) is being re-taped. Hopeful to return to tonight's game.

This is definitely good news for the defending champs. But Thompson is expected to have limited mobility for the rest of the game, affecting his vaunted defense which the Cavs may look to attack.

The Cavs hung on bravely after the first quarter as they managed to stay toe-to-toe with the defending champions. LeBron James had an explosive first quarter, but more importantly, he received support from Kevin Love and Smith.
