With the NFL season right around the corner, the Washington Football Team aims for a second consecutive playoff berth. Ron Rivera has a solid foundation built for this franchise, as they have the tools to separate themselves from the rest of the NFC East. They have a stout defense and plenty of weapons on the offense to make some serious noise this year.

Washington's defense will keep this team in most games. Chase Young is already shaping up to be an absolute monster on the defensive line. WFT has a great front seven, but Rivera's known for having a strong secondary. This defense isn't going to allow many yards or touchdowns, as they have a real chance to be near the top of the rankings.

Offensively, Washington has a big question mark on the quarterback position. Outside of that, this roster looks rather sharp. A rookie wide receiver could be in for a bigger role than expected, the run game should be in full effect, and Terry McLaurin has the potential to be an elite option this year. With that said, here are four bold predictions for Washington's 2021 season.

4. Dyami Brown is the second-best receiver on the team

A third-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft, Dyami Brown aims to play a key role in Washington. For now, he's listed as a backup wide receiver for this offense, but he has the potential to be much more than that. Brown is an athletic receiver who is quick with his cuts, making him a great route runner.

The front office brought in Adam Humphries to play the slot. However, Humphries has dealt with injuries the last few years playing for the Tennessee Titans. For that reason, Brown's number could be called upon sooner, rather than later. Look for Dyami Brown to play a key role in the offense once he becomes a starter. If that happens, Washington suddenly has a stacked offense to go alongside their stacked defense.

3. Washington finishes with the top-ranked defense

Chase Young is a force of nature and he proved that last year by winning the Defensive Rookie of the Year award. It's crazy to think that this kid has room to grow as he's still developing at the professional level. Washington is in good hands as long as Young is on the team, and he's not going anywhere anytime soon. However, it's not like he's the only great player on Washington's defense.

Daron Payne, Jonathan Allen, and Montez Sweat play on the defensive line with Chase Young. The front office selected Jamin Davis in the 2021 NFL Draft, who has plenty of potential of becoming a star linebacker one day. Additionally, with Kendall Fuller, Landon Collins, and William Jackson III in the secondary, Washington has everything they need to be a top defense in this league. Watch out for this unit, as they could dominate their opponents and finish with the number one defense.

2. Antonio Gibson proves he's an elite running back

Antonio Gibson was a pleasant surprise for Washington last year. After the Derrius Guice debacle, many believed this team would struggle in the run game. Instead, Gibson burst onto the scene as a talented rookie, giving Washington a huge boost on offense. Now with a year of experience under his belt, Antonio Gibson could be on his way to superstar status in 2021.

He has everything coaches want in a running back these days. Gibson can run between the tackles, fight for extra yards, make big plays in open space, and catch out of the backfield. He'll serve as a consistent option for this offense, which is crucial for Washington's potential. Keep an eye on Gibson, as he's in the perfect situation to become one of the league's top running backs.

1. Terry McLaurin finishes as a top 10 wide receiver

Any football fan will tell you that Terry McLaurin is the real deal. However, he has been more of a top 20 player so far throughout his career. All of that can change this season, as he's the obvious top receiver on his team. Although Ryan Fitzpatrick isn't the most consistent quarterback, he has a knack for feeding his wide receivers at a high rate. Fitzpatrick will connect with McLaurin often, increasing his chances of becoming a top 10 wide receiver in 2021.

With new faces added to the receiver room, and Logan Thomas garnering looks too, Terry McLaurin should have less attention on him from opposing defenses. They used to double him up on nearly every snap. That can longer happen, as Washington's front office made sure to improve the wide receiver room this offseason. Look for Terry McLaurin to be one of the best receivers in the league this year.
