Fresh off a NFC East title and a stellar performance during the Wild Card Round of the 2021 NFL Playoffs, the Washington Football Team is looking to start the 2021 NFL season with a big win against the Los Angeles Chargers. Now that they've officially named Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback, Washington will look to run a highly efficient offense from the get-go. In this post we're doing our Washington Week 1 predictions.

On the flip side, Chase Young will look to build off a highly successful rookie campaign in which he won Defensive Rookie of the Year and helped transform Washington into one of the league's best defenses. With a balanced roster on both ends of the field, the Washington Football Team will be cooking with gas come Sunday afternoon, so the Chargers better be ready for what's coming their way.

Let's take a look at four bold predictions for Washington's week 1 matchup against the Chargers.

Washington Week 1 Predictions

Ryan Fitzpatrick will put up big numbers in Washington debut

After his stellar play with the Miami Dolphins last season, Ryan Fitzpatrick showed he still has plenty left in the tank and will be a huge asset to the Washington Football Team in 2021. With Terry McLaurin getting better each season and Logan Thomas continuing to make his case as one of the best tight ends in the NFL, Fitzmagic will be a boon for this offense after last season's struggles.

Not to mention the additions of Curtis Samuel and Adam Humphries will give him even more deep threats to work with while seamlessly moving the ball around. Fresh off a solid run with the Dolphins last season, Ryan Fitzpatrick will look to make Washington a much more explosive offense.

Chargers will have no answer for Chase Young

During his rookie campaign, Chase Young took the league by storm and helped turn Washington into one of the best defensive units in the NFL. Entering Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Young will be ready to elevate his game and shut down LA's running game. With his speed, strength, and elusiveness, Young will be giving the Chargers trouble all game long.

Looking to get multiple sacks and force a few fumbles on Sunday afternoon, he'll be out for blood and ready to do some serious damage against a rejuvenated Chargers squad. In a matchup of two Rookie of the Year winners, Young will be looking to get the upper hand against sophomore gunslinger Justin Herbert. The Chargers won't have an answer for Chase Young during their Week 1 matchup.

Antonio Gibson will have a career rushing game

Coming off a productive season with Washington, Antonio Gibson will be looking to build off his success and start off on the right foot against LA. With the improved talent on the Washington offense, this will definitely open up more opportunities for Gibson to wreak havoc and give them a lethal rushing attack.

Gunning for a 1,500-yard rushing season in 2021, Gibson will be running like there's no tomorrow and look to have a career rushing game against a tenacious LA defense. Gibson is bound to put up some big numbers during Washington's week 1 matchup against the Chargers.

Washington will come away with a win

Looking to repeat as division champions, Sunday's matchup against the Chargers will serve as the starting point in their quest to make a deep playoff run. With a ton of promise and a plethora of talent on both sides of the ball for the Washington Football Team, look for them to come out of the gate firing on all cylinders in Week 1.

Hoping to continually make strides and improvements this season, the Washington Football Team will have great things in store and should not be overlooked as a legit title contender during the 2021 NFL season.
