Washington Football Team tight end Logan Thomas has not played since Week 13 against the Las Vegas Raiders. He's not going to be back on the field anytime soon after a recent test diagnosed him with a torn ACL — contrary to the initial results of tests done on him.

Washington Football Team tight end Logan Thomas faces a longer recovery after further tests revealed a torn ACL, a source told ESPN's Adam Schefter. Thomas is expected to undergo surgery this week and be ready for the start of the 2022 season.

Washington initially feared that Thomas had torn the ACL and MCL in his left knee in a Dec. 5 game vs. the Las Vegas Raiders. However, more tests the following week revealed knee damage — but not to his ACL. The organization breathed a collective sigh of relief, knowing his recovery would be a lot easier without a torn ACL.

That hurts for Washington. The Football Team had just signed Thomas to a three-year extension deal worth $24 million back in July 2021, but the tight end has only appeared in six games this season and might not even be ready by the time the 2022 NFL season rolls around. Thomas has become of the more dependable weapons downfield for Washington since arriving in the nation's capital in 2020 as a free agent. He signed the extension contract after recording 670 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 72 receptions while playing in all games in the 2020 NFL season.

With Thomas out of the picture, Washington is turning to Ricky Seals-Jones for tight end help with John Bates also seeing his role expand.
