The Washington Football Team and longtime owner Dan Snyder are in trouble. This offseason has continued the NFL organization's seemingly endless string of controversies. According to a Monday evening report from Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, Snyder and his franchise have formally been informed that the league will now be handling the ongoing investigation in the alleged workplace misconduct claims that have been brought against Washington.

“Washington owner Daniel Snyder was informed today that the NFL is taking over the investigation into alleged workplace issues reported by the WashingtonPost, per me and Mike Garafolo,” Rapoport tweeted on Monday evening. “Commissioner Roger Goodell and Snyder spoke today and Snyder was supportive of the step.”

Snyder previously hired Beth Wilkinson, of the Washington D.C. law firm Wilkinson Walsh LLP, to review the organization's “culture, policies and allegations of workplace misconduct,” reads NFL.com's report regarding the developing situation. Leading to the investigation that is now being handled by the NFL itself, the NFC East franchise encountered allegations of sexual harassment from 15 former female employees earlier this year.

“This move by the NFL was to ensure the further independence of the investigation,” Rapoport  added.”

On the football field, Washington will look to stay out of the cellar of the NFC East division as the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys are both expected to contend for postseason spots in 2020-21. On the other hand, the rival New York Giants appear primed to battle it out with Washington for third and fourth place in the divisional standings.
