Brandon Scherff is one of the most reliable players for the Washington Football Team and he'll be sidelined for an extended period of time. According to the NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Scherff is expected to be out three-to-five weeks due to an MCL sprain.

Among all of the unfortunate injuries in Week 2, Scherff was one of the few offensive linemen that sustained an injury. The former No. 5 pick in the 2015 NFL Draft suffered a knee injury during Sunday's game versus the Arizona Cardinals.

Of course, similar to other instances, Washington feared the worst when it came to Scherff's injury. However, unlike other teams, Washington was fortunate to discover that Scherff's ailment isn't season-ending.

Still, Scherff is going to miss three-to-five weeks, leaving Washington's offensive line with a massive void at the right guard spot. Since arriving in Washington in 2015, Scherff has been a cornerstone of the offense on the right side of the offensive line. Back in March, Washington placed their franchise tag on him.

The Iowa product has started in 67 games in his career, missing a total of 13 games due to injury from 2018-2019. His number of games missed due to injury will inevitably increase with his latest knee injury.

Without Scherff manning the right guard position, Wes Schweitzer is likely to get the nod as his replacement. Schweitzer was signed by Washington this offseason after playing his first three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.

There's no doubt that Washington's offense is going to sorely miss the three-time Pro Bowler in the trenches. At the least, Scherff will be able to return this season, hopefully helping himself earn a payday next offseason.
