The Washington Football Team has made the decision official regarding their starting quarterback. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Washington is rolling with veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick in a rather unsurprising move.

This was expected for some time, although Washington head coach Ron Rivera was non-committal on making the official announcement–for some reason. The only other option was Taylor Heinicke, who thrived at the end of the season for Washington in 2020.

Neither Washington quarterback played in the preseason finale on Sunday. But, in Week 2, Fitzpatrick went 7-13 for 96 yards and Heinicke went 11-13 for 80 yards and both looked good.

Oddly enough, neither player threw a touchdown pass in the preseason for Washington, but this was always Fitzpatrick's job to lose and Heinicke had to play extremely well in order to pass him on the team's depth chart.

The Washington Football Team being their regular season at home against the Los Angeles Chargers and they will certainly have their hands full with Justin Herbert and new head coach Brandon Staley making his debut. But, Fitzpatrick has enough talent to lead Washington to the playoffs,

September 12 is the beginning of the regular season for Washington and Fitzmagic will look to continue his insanely long career in the NFL.
