With Ryan Fitzpatrick landing on injured reserve due to a hip injury just one week into the regular season, the expectations for the Washington Football Team have dipped a bit.

Don't tell Taylor Heinicke that, as he is set to step in as the starting quarterback in the absence of Fitzpatrick. Heinicke, via The Athletic, seems more than ready to take over and help pick up plenty of wins for the Washington Football Team.

“Something I’ve been dreaming about my whole life, being a starting quarterback in the NFL, and here we are,” Heinicke said.. “I really try and take it one day at a time, one meeting at a time, one play at a time. I feel like if I just live in the moment, everything else will take care of itself.”

The lead target for the Washington Football Team, Terry McLaurin, is pumped to see Heinicke get a shot.

“It’s really cool playing behind a guy like that, who just seems like he’s always ready for the moment,” wide receiver Terry McLaurin said on Tuesday after Washington’s lone practice this week. “It’s never too big for him. And you know, he’s gonna give us his best each and every week.”

After winning the NFC East a year ago, the goals don't seem to have changed for this season with Fitzpatrick out and Heinicke in.

The newest QB1 will get his first crack at things on Thursday Night Football against the New York Giants.
