Washington Football Team players are feeling good after beating the Philadelphia Eagles, 20-14, to win the NFC East and return to the playoffs after a four-year absence. Rookie defensive end Chase Young is so confident that he is already looking forward to the team’s playoff opponent, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who finished with the fifth seed in the NFC.

Just as Washington players headed for the locker room following the win over the Eagles, the 21-year-old made it clear that he is not backing down from the next challenge, even if it happens to be the greatest quarterback the NFL has ever seen. You have to love the confidence:

Young, the second overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, is part of a disruptive Washington defense that has been terrific all season. The former Ohio State Buckeye finished the win over the Eagles with three quarterback hits, two solo tackles, one sack, and one tackle for loss and will continue his strong rookie season in the playoffs.

The Buccaneers, meanwhile, are coming off a 44-27 win over the Atlanta Falcons in their final game of the regular season. Brady completed 26 out of 41 passes for 399 yards with four touchdowns and one interception, giving the 43-year-old 40 passing touchdowns this season.

With the win, the 7-9 Washington Football Team became just the third team in NFL history to reach the playoffs with a sub-.500 record, joining the 2010 Seattle Seahawks and the 2014 Carolina Panthers, who also had Ron Rivera at the helm, per NFL Research.

Coincidentally, both the 2010 Seahawks and 2014 Panthers managed to win a playoff game, and it’s interesting to see whether history will repeat itself once Chase Young and Washington face Tom Brady and the Buccaneers.
